Meet the Owner
Maja was just 9 years old when she and her family immigrated to the United States from Bosnia. She didn't know a word of English when she started school at Davis Park Elementary School, an entirely new experience for her. With the help of the school nurse, she was able to learn English and join her peers in the third grade.
Maja went on to graduate from North Vigo High School and Indiana State University, followed by a master’s degree from Saint Mary of the Woods College.
After teaching for 8 years, Maja decided that it was time to be her own boss—and today she is the owner of Little Bear Coffee Company. She now has one son who keeps her busy around the clock—and needless to say, getting enough coffee has become an essential part of her daily routine!
Our Story
We are an independently-owned, minority-owned, and woman-owned small business.
Formerly called Little Bear Coffee Co., the inspiration for Little Bear comes from the owner’s son, Eli Barrett Austin, who is lovingly referred to as “Little Bear.”
We changed our name to Bear’s Coffee and Roasting Co. in 2024 after we started a roastery and opened our third location.

Since October 2019, we have opened the doors with the intention of offering our customers top quality, locally roasted coffee, and delicious pastries, treats, and snacks. Maja Austin (owner), and Senka Delich (owner) have put their hearts and souls into this business to create something unique.
The quality of our products and craft-inspired process of drink-making sets us apart from any other.
Our coffee shops offer a unique environment unlike any other coffee shop in Terre Haute. We are not only a place to drop in for your morning coffee of the day or Bear Bomb, but we also provide a welcoming atmosphere where you can sit down and enjoy your craft-made beverage.
